Addressing tax and legal issues is one of the most critical and precarious elements in workforce mobility. You can’t possibly be expected to monitor, research and respond to every tax and legal issue that you need to know about.
Most relocation professionals who are faced with legislative and regulatory issues – whether they are transferring their company’s employees or providing services for those employees - aren't equipped with the level of knowledge, expertise and relationships to effectively prepare for and meet the challenges of managing risk. In fact, many legal departments are charged with such a range of business concerns that they are not able to give a strong and singular focus to relocation. This can lead to uncertain situations that threaten the viability of the current business model.
Federal legislation and regulations (including IRS rulings and developments), state legislative and regulatory bodies that initiate laws and rules (many of which are directed at the real estate transaction), and state initiatives require continuous monitoring. The Coalition staff, with input from the Coalition Board of Directors and Public Policy Committee, does much of the work for you, and gives everyone in the relocation industry the opportunity to develop a strong risk management program.
Because it is self-funded, the Coalition relies on those who benefit from its work to support its work. In return, stakeholders are connected to the Coalition’s capable experts and environment that:
- Provide monitoring and updates on state and federal legislative and regulatory activity
- Conduct a national grassroots campaign to gather and disseminate information
- Develop tools and education to assist in making rational risk assessment/management decisions and to ensure regulatory compliance
- Offer a free and confidential online referral fee resolution system through the Interchange
- Help safeguard companies’ business models
